E o jovem paulista de Rio Claro, que completou 20 anos recentemente, venceu na categoria pena. Feliz da vida, direto do Japão, Rafa Mendes comunicou sua vitória ao GRACIEMAG.com.
“Fiz três lutas. Na primeira, peguei as costas e finalizei no armlock das costas; na segunda, peguei as costas, montei, e finalizei com o estrangulamento da montada; e na terceira fiz 28 a 0 e finalizai no armlock das costas”, comemorou o atleta. “Vou ficar aqui no Japão até dia 13, fazer quatro seminários e lutar o Deep-X, em Tóquio”, disse.
“Foi um prazer ter lutado esse evento, fui muito bem recebido pela organização e por todos que estavam no campeonato. Fico muito feliz por ver que as pessoas estão reconhecendo meu trabalho”, afirmou Mendes.
Além de Mendes outros conhecidos faixas-pretas brasileiros venceram e se destacaram na terra do sol nascente. Foram eles, Robson Moura (Nova União), no pluma; Gustavo Dantas (Nova União), no leve; e Abmar Barbosa (Drysdale JJ).
Mendes agradeceu muito ao irmão Guilherme Mendes, que mesmo de longe ajudou ao faixa-preta. “Guilherme me ajudou muito. Dando conselhos, porque o Ramon Lemos está nos EUA e fica difícil falar com ele. Gui me deu muita força. Sempre me apóia muito psicologicamente antes dos campeonatos”, disse.
